Saturated Fats

These kinds of fats are very difficult for your body to process, and are best avoided if you’re experiencing stomach or bowel trouble. So anything fried or deep-fried in oil is a no-no. Similarly, most snack foods, such as crisps and biscuits, are very high in saturated fats, and will only make your gut work harder.

Spicy Foods

Meals with a high chilli or spice content can serve to irritate your gut, and cause or exacerbate feelings pain. Milder foods are much better for those with a poor tummy – so lay off the chilli sauce, and take some time off going to your local takeaway.

Fizzy Drinks

Carbonated drinks contain quite a lot of gas, and these can often lead to bloated feelings of pain. Try to give your system a rest, and stick to still drinks. Water is always the best option at mealtimes, as this helps you to better digest what you’ve eaten.

Nuts

Aside from chewing, your body doesn’t actually do that much to digest nuts before they reach your intestine. If you want to take it easy on your gut, stay away from these and opt for a nibble which is easier to digest, such as olives.
